Office Startup screens
This section has the
following topics:
There are seven main
screens to Office Startup module. We also called this module
"Preferences". Each can
be navigated to by clicking its respective tab on the top of the screen.
Setup
This screen has the
demographics about the licensed user of
PracticeMaker®. You can edit almost all the fields in the Licensed Practice Information
section.
Practice
Information
- Licensed to Name, Title – The person at
the practice to whom PracticeMaker® is licensed.
- Licensed to Full Name – The full name of
the licensee.
- Practice Name – The name of the licensed
practice.
- Address – The address of the licensee.
- City, State, Zip – The
remainder of the licensee's address
- Phone Number, Fax number, and Area Code
are self-explanatory and can be modified on this screen.
- If you always want the Area
Code added to the front of any 7 digit phone number entered
anywhere in the system, select Always Add to "Yes". For
example, if the area code is "1-215", and you enter a phone number as
"5556666", the phone number will be reformatted for you as
"1-215-666-7777".
- If Add Prefix
contains a value, it will be placed in front of any number that is
dialed! (not an active feature, yet).
- Practice Tax ID should be filled with
the tax ID number to be used by your office if you have a Group
practice. Leave out the dash!
- ID Type – Select EIN
if this is an “Employer Identification Number” or select SSN if
you are using your “Social Security Number” (modifiable).
- Practice NPI should be filled in with
the practice's 10 digit National Provider Identifier. Each provider has
a unique NPI and the doctors's does NOT go in this field!
- Group – If this is selected, this
address will be used for billing purposes. Additionally, when this is
checked Box
33 on the HCFA/CMS 1500 claim form is properly formatted.
Feature Switches
- If Ask for
Recalls is "Yes", then you will always be prompted to update
a patien't recall date, if not already done, when you leave the Charge
Entry Screen in the Billing Module.
- Version
for selects if the software is to be used by one of the
listed specialties. At present eye care, dental or podiatry has extra
features. In the
Patients module you can then click on the EMR button to link that
patient’s PracticeMaker® record with his/her electronic medical
record.
- Medical
records selects which medical records program you wish to
link with. This connection is a valued added-feature.
- Set
Printer is a feature available as of 2/1/2007. When properly set
up it allows PracticeMaker to automatically change between certain
printers so that the user does not need to remember which one to use.
The feature does not work with Macintosh OS9 and is not available in
PracticeMaker® LE.
Modules
Activated
- If your software came with Appointments "Yes" will
be selected.
- If your software uses Electronic Claims, "Yes" will be selected.
- If your software came with the Letters Module then "Yes" will be selected. If you click the
checkbox Remind, you will be reminded to write letters.
- If
your software came with the Prescriptions
Module "Yes"
will be selected.
- Limited Edition is checked "Yes" if you are using the limited, single-user
version of PracticeMaker®. This version does not allow access to
Appointments, Forms Module, Specialty Module, Prescriptions, and other
advanced features.
- If Image
Capture Enabled is "Yes" you will be able to use our image
capture software, and included web cam, to take pictures of your

Serial
Number
Each working version of
PracticeMaker® has its own unique serial number. You may need to
know this serial number when calling for support. This serial number is
used throughout PracticeMaker® to insure database integrity. If the
serial number shown here does not match the serial number of your
electronic claims modules (specifically ECS Control) you will not be
able to
process claims!
